Exploring the notes within the scale that surround the chord voicings we know can provide us with a multitude of variations on those chords. Using these variations you can create more interesting rhythm guitar ideas by adding melodic motion to your harmonic playing. You can also use these variations to create melodies when soloing with chords.
Here I demonstrate the voicings for Emaj7 on strings 1-4, and also some ideas for additional major voicings of different types (6, 6/9, add 9 etc.) that are taken from the position of each Emaj7 voicing.
